Well, of course, communicating from Japan whilst originally from the US makes things a tad difficult. I`m wondering at the moment if the iPhone or a windows mobile device would be the way to go for the next choice in phones, for their ability to supposedly connect via wifi. The two hotel rooms so far have both had ethernet, so an airport express, while overkill, would be better with a phone in terms of weight than carrying a laptop. Also, a truly world phone (I knew mine would not work in Japan) would make the communication situation a little easier, especially since you can buy SIM cards to use elsewhere if you have unlocked your phone.
